On Thursday a former Tennessee school teacher accused of abducting a 15-year-old student in a cross-country journey that ended with his arrest in California was indicted by a federal grand jury. He was indicted on two felony counts.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville, 50 Year old Tad Cummins was charged with obstruction of justice and transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual conduct.
If convicted, Cummins faces a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
Days after his arrest in April, he was originally charged in a federal criminal complaint with a single count of interstate transportation of a minor for sex.
