Two Rockville High School students in Rockville, Maryland, were arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in a school bathroom. One of the accused, Henry E. Sanchez, 18, was the subject of a pending alien removal case and, despite his age, was enrolled as a ninth grader; José Montano, 17, was also in the ninth grade. Both are in custody and being charged as adults. There were few answers, but a hell of a lot of questions, not the least of which was why the two were enrolled as ninth graders. County Executive Ike Leggett did release a statement Monday.
Montgomery County MD: Please read the statement from County Executive Leggett Regarding the Rape at Rockville High School, March 16, 2017 — Leggett writes: I was immediately sick and disgusted when it was reported that two young men raped a 14-year-old student at Rockville High School last Thursday. This should not happen. Period. My deepest condolences go out to this young girl and her family. Thankfully, the alleged rapists were arrested by the police. Obviously, if convicted, these young men need to be severely punished for this heinous act, and I am confident that the justice system will do its job. …
Although these individuals had no previous involvement in the County’s criminal justice system, these alleged rapists do have outstanding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) orders. If convicted, and after serving their sentences, the County — consistent with our longstanding policy — will cooperate fully with ICE to see that the two are deported to their countries of origin. — What a relief to know that there’s at least one circumstance under which a municipal government will cooperate with “Trump’s henchmen” in ICE. But back to the questions: Cameron Gray: “1) Why were 17 & 18 yo students enrolled as 9th graders – 2) Why is the county listed on the @icegov report today – 3) Why 4 days for statement”
MoCo police chief said it’s not his job to enforce immigration, basically saying he won’t. Even if it means 14-year-old girls being raped in the high school bathroom. Another reason we have to do something quickly about immigration. What we’re doing clearly isn’t working & can be dangerous. How were these illegal aliens allowed to enroll in school? And in the 9th grade? It defies common sense that these young men were in your school, in the 9th grade. This is a non-apology. You failed. — Townhall’s Katie Pavlich also noticed the absence of a certain word from the county executive’s statement: “Not once do you specifically mention the “two men” were two illegal aliens, thanks for mentioning ICE way down at the bottom though.”
She also had questions for the district superintendent. Katie Pavlich: “Superintendent says 18-year old illegal alien accused of rape was enrolled as a freshman because he was enrolled as english learner. Superintendent says they don’t have any information about immigration status of students enrolled in Rockville public schools. But yet they enroll “lots of 18 year olds” as freshman in English learning classes. This is what we call a clue.” — Fox News’ Tucker Carlson also devoted time Monday night to the school district’s apparent lack of curiosity in the children (and adults) who make up the student body. Brigitta Mullican on Rockville school rape: “How can two boys grab a 14-year-old girl and put her into the men’s room and rape her?”
