California Seeks Water Savings During Drought

California water regulators are seeking “tighter oversight of agricultural irrigation and a permanent ban on over-watering urban lawns.” This is the first step in a long-term water conservation plan as the state deals with ongoing drought. Nearly two-thirds of the state is heading into its fifth year of severe drought. The chair of the State Water Resources Control Board said, ““The last few years provided the wake-up call of all wake-up calls that water is precious and not to be taken for granted.” The proposal will go through a period of public comment and will be finalized early next year.
