The first Global Hepatitis Report was released on Friday by the World Health Organization which outlines new data on viral hepatitis globally. The WHO hopes to bring down deaths from hepatitis from 1.34 million to below 469,000 people per year. According to the report, 325 million people live with viral hepatitis. That’s 4.4 percent of the world’s population. The report also found that only 9 percent of people living with Hepatitis C and only 20 percent with Hepatitis B know they have the disease.
