Golfer Brooks Koepka, whose name is now etched on the US Open trophy alongside the likes of masterful players such as Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, with his winning score to par of 16 under equals the tournament’s all-time record mark set by Rory McIlroy at the par 71 Congressional Country Club in 2011. Koepka, who was involved in a serious car accident as a child, was strongly advised by doctors to avoid contact sports, which lead him to pick up a golf club. The US Open champion said, “I got into a car accident and couldn’t play baseball, hockey and basketball. We stuck with golf for a little while and it’s panned out, continuing, I think it was a blessing in disguise.”
