John Conyers’ Son is Running Against The Congressman’s Great Nephew to Replace Him

Embattled Democratic Rep. John Conyers announced on a local Detroit radio show on Tuesday that he is retiring from the seat he has held for the past four decades. The longest-serving member in the U.S. House of Representatives said that while he is retiring, he is also endorsing his son, John Conyers III, to replace him. Conyers’ great nephew Ian Conyers, a current Michigan state senator, is tossing his name in the hat to become the next Michigan congressman as well. No word yet on whether anyone outside of the Conyers family intends to run.
