LiAngelo Ball Reveals UCLA Made Him Thank Trump

LiAngelo Ball, former UCLA men’s basketball team player, said Wednesday that the university pressured him to thank President Trump for his release from China, after he and two teammates were arrested for shoplifting last month. Ball told New York morning radio show “The Breakfast Club,” “[Trump] tweeted about it before my speech so I had to add it in there right before I gave it. My school wanted to hear it too. Before I went up there, it’s like, ‘You gotta thank him.'” Freshmen basketball players Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were arrested with Ball at the team’s hotel in Hangzhou, China. Trump reportedly asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to aid in their release. UCLA has since suspended the three players indefinitely following their arrests in China.
