Navajo Tribe Sues Wells Fargo

The Navajo Nation has sued Wells Fargo for coercing vulnerable members of the tribe into opening accounts they didn’t need. It was all part of an aggressive sales campaign for which the bank has already agreed to pay millions of dollars in settlements and penalties. the tribe has lands in Arizona, Utah and New Mexico that are home to five Wells Fargo branches. In a lawsuit filed Tuesday, they accused the bank of targeting the elderly, minors, and members who speak little English for high-pressure pitches to sign up for unnecessary accounts.
