In the coming weeks Amtrak is scheduled to begin making repairs to Penn Station’s infrastructure. The work is set to take place from July 10 through Sept. 1 leaving several relevant tracks out of service inconveniencing millions of commuters across the region. New Jersey Transit Corp and the Long Island Rail Road both rent space and tracks from Amtrak. Because of the disruptions New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has suggested transit officials consider offering reduced fares for some Long Island commuters during the summer repair program. Pennsylvania Station, is the busiest U.S. train hub in the nation.
