Protests In Charlotte Over Police Shooting Decision

Protests erupted in Charlotte, North Carolina after a decision was announced in the shooting investigation of Keith Lamont Scott. In a press conference on Wednesday, District Attorney R. Andrew Murray announced that he will not be charging officer Brentley Vinson in the fatal shooting of Scott. Since the shooting, Vinson has been on administrative leave as authorities investigate the case. Scott’s family has insisted that he was unarmed at the time of the shooting, but Murray said Scott had a weapon, showing surveillance footage of a “bulge” in Scott’s pant leg. His family released a statement on Wednesday saying they were “profoundly disappointed.”
