Thanks to nearly 24 hours of rain in Gatlinburg Tennessee, much of the devastating wildfire has disappeared. For victims of the fire, however, the nightmare isn’t over. Mayor Mike Werner lost his house and most of the condominium buildings he owned. When asked about his losses, he said, “I really can’t dwell on it that much. I think of others that have lost theirs, and it keeps my mind off of our problems. It’s really hard, it’s really tough.” Authorities are still working to identify the dead and haven’t released any details so far. The fire destroyed an estimated 300 buildings. Dolly Parton set up a fund through Dollywood of $1000 a month for families who have lost their homes. Dollywood did not suffer significant damage and expects to reopen Friday.
