Refugee Women & Children In Limbo In Greece

Thousands of refugee women and children remain in limbo in Greece, waiting to be reunited with their families in other European countries. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, nearly 75,000 refugees stranded in Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, and the western Balkans are at risk of “psychological distress” due to a prolonged state of transit. In Greece alone there are about 60,000 refugees and migrants, mostly from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, who have been stuck for over a year after border closures in the Balkans prevented them from journeying onward to central and western Europe.
