Trump Administration Denies Exxon to Work In Russia

On Friday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that Exxon Mobil will not be granted a waiver, to allow it to resume drilling around the Black Sea. The decision is the latest indication that the White House is backing away from statements made from Donald Trump during his 2016 campaign, where he said he would relax sanctions imposed on Russia by the Obama administration. In a statement, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said, that “the Treasury Department will not be issuing waivers to U.S. companies, including Exxon, authorizing drilling prohibited by current Russian sanctions.” Exxon was blocked in 2014 from participating in the multi-billion dollar deal when the U.S. imposed the sanctions — which bar Russian investment in U.S. holdings
