On Wednesday, a Pentagon agency has said that the US State Department has approved the sale of over $295 million worth of military equipment to to Iraq for artillery and infantry Kurdish peshmerga units. In a statement, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that the equipment requested by the Iraqi government would outfit two peshmerga infantry brigades and two support artillery battalions. Congress was notified of the approval on Tuesday. However the agency said that the notice does not mean that the sale has been concluded.
